COLTON -- The 31st “Colton Country Days” will be held July 19 and 20 at the Colton Hepburn Library, Colton Museum and behind the Colton Town Hall featuring a frog jumping contest, kids fishing derby, massages and fireworks.
A frog jumping contest will be held Saturday near the Colton Museum, Main Street, with registration at 9 a.m.
The Higley Association will sponsor fireworks and an ice cream social at 7:30 p.m. at the Colton Firemen’s Field on Gulf Road.
New this year will be mini massage sessions of massage and energy body work from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Colton Gazebo by Jody Wallace, member of the American Massage Therapy Association. A sign up/time sheet will be at the Gazebo in the morning to reserve a time. Enjoy the first three minutes free.
On Sunday, a kids fishing derby begins at 8 a.m. with registration behind the Colton Town Hall.
The Colton Fire Department will serve a chicken barbecue at the fire station.
There will be a flea market, crafts, concession stand, children’s games and more held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a used book sale hosted by the Library Friends at the Colton Town Hall. The Colton Museum/Stone Valley Information Center will host an open house. Sweet Adelines North will provide entertainment on the library steps at noon.
The musical “25th Putnam County Annual School Bee” will be held in conjunction with the celebration on July 17, 18 and 20 at Colton-Pierrepont Central School. The presentation is by the Grass River Players.
In case of inclement weather, it will all be moved to the South Colton pavilion on Swift Field.
