Free Thanksgiving meals planned in Ogdensburg, Massena, Lisbon, Hannawa Falls, Gouverneur, Potsdam

Free Thanksgiving meals will be offered throughout the county Thursday, some offering rides and others offering takeout options.

• In the Ogdensburg area the Knights of Columbus will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner beginning at 11 a.m. at 721 Hasbrouk Street. The annual event has carried on for decades and often serves more than 500 meals. Call 393-7990 for more information.

• In Massena a free Thanksgiving meal will be offered at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 101 from noon to 3 p.m. People can call 769-3434 for a free ride on the day of the meal. St. Vincent de Paul Society sponsors the event.

• The Lisbon First Congregational Church will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 24 at 12:30 p.m. This event is open to anyone who would otherwise be alone on this day, and to those who might not be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. There is no charge, but event organizers ask attendees to call Helen at 393-4039 so they know when people are coming and can be prepared.

• In Hannawa Falls the third Verner M. Ingram Thanksgiving turkey feast will be served Thursday at 3 p.m. at Hounds Haven on Keener Road.

• A free Thanksgiving Dinner will be offered at the First United Methodist Church in Gouverneur, 34 Grove Street. The meal will be served at noon.

• A free will Thanksgiving Dinner will be offered at the Potsdam Episcopal Church from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 8 Maple Street. The meal includes turkey, potatoes, gravy, veggies, cranberry relish, rolls, pie, beverages; donations accepted, not expected.
