POTSDAM -- The Orthodox Mission of Potsdam will hold a free showing of “The Island” Sunday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at Dexter’s Café, SUNY Potsdam.
Father Luke Majoros of the monastic community of St. Silouan will give an introduction to the film.
A parable about faith and salvation, “The Island” combines the realities of everyday Russia with monastic life and routine. The film tells the story of an unusual man living in a Russian orthodox monastery.
“The Island” has been a selection at the Sundance, Venice, London, Seattle and Toronto film festivals.
