MASSENA -- On Aug. 1, the Boys and Girls Club of Massena will host a Kids’ Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their future clubhouse, 30 Bayley Road.

It will feature inflatables, an obstacle course, face painting, decorating the club’s community garden and special kid-focused programs with a focus on healthy habits and fun.

The event will feature the “Museum Without Walls” from the North Country Children’s Museum, for groups of kids every half-hour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids from preschool to middle school and their caregivers can partake in special workshops featuring a variety of arts and science programs.

There will also be programs that help to encourage good nutrition, regular physical activity and improve overall well-being.

There will be healthy summer snacks for a nominal fee.

B&D Entertainment will have their inflatables ready for kids to enjoy until 3 p.m.

The Temple is also setting up an obstacle course for kids.

Kid-focused workshops will be presented throughout the event, including: “Eating for Life,” nutrition for kids by Bridgette Tempresta, SUNY Potsdam Student Intern at the Boys & Girls Club of Massena; “Snack Down: It’s a Choice,” presented by BGCM Director Debra Donatto; “Amazingly Awesome Organics” with Charlene Dumas; and, Happy Smiles with Healthy Teeth, presented by Cheryl Gardner and the staff of the Carl Scruggs dental office.

Those with a kid-focused program they would like offer at no charge on Kids’ Day should call Donatto at 250-7806 by July 31.

Part of the event will be a live radio remote with radio personality Sandy Cook, an honorary chairperson for the Boys & Girls Club of Massena’s “Our Kids, Our Community” campaign committee. The broadcast will offer an opportunity to share the current status of the club, next steps and encourage the continuing commitment by the community.
