OGDENSBURG -- A free hernia seminar and screening will be offered April 7 at 10 a.m., in the first-floor outpatient surgical unit at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Claxton-Hepburn’s Robotic Surgeons, Dr. Michael Oakley and Dr. Noah Zuker, will offer a brief presentation on hernias and the importance of detection.
Immediately following the presentation, participants will have an opportunity for a free hernia screening.
To register, call the Medical Center’s community relations department at 315-713-5251 or visit the exhibit at the Ogdensburg EXPO on March 23-25.
While hernias are more common in men, women can also develop them. Patients can experience groin pain, nausea or a bulge in the affected area.
However, some patients have no symptoms, which is why screening is so important.
Hernia care begins with proper diagnosis by a professional healthcare provider, such as a primary care physician or general surgeon.
