POTSDAM -- A free one-day training course on hazardous materials management is set for Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Clarkson University.

Sign-in is at 7:30 a.m., and the last session is due to wind up at 5 p.m.

There is no fee to attend the training sessions, but students are encouraged to buy a workbook for $100 which contains copies of the training slides plus CHMM/CHMP exam preparation study materials.

Lead instructor is MECX Senior Vice President Richard Cartwright, who has been teaching CHMM courses since 1988. Other instructors include Jasmine Schliesmann-Merkle, CHMM, Wise Harvest Inc.; Scott Saroff PG, FPM Remediations, Inc.; Sean Milne, NewFields, Inc.; and Brian Remus CHMM, hazmat trainer.

At the end of the course, each receives a certificate which can be submitted along with the course outline for professional license and certification maintenance points. Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (CHMM) and Certified Hazardous Materials Professionals (CHMP) are required to accrue 100 hours of relevant training every five years.

Registration required, which can be done by email to richard.cartwright@mecx.net or by calling (713) 412-9697. No on-site registration will be available.

The Remediation Partners Consortium and the NY-Penn Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals are co-sponsoring the course.
