OGDENSBURG -- A free family-oriented “Safe Night” and personal self-defense seminar is slated for Monday, Jan. 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. The class is for parents and school-age youth in grades one through 12.
It will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Caroline Street.
American Kang Duk Won Karate instructor Frank Palumbo will address methods for safer behavior at home and in school, family communications and anti-bullying topics. Class leaders will also discuss techniques for recognizing and avoiding risky situations, along with procedures to assist in dealing with social media contacts.
American Kang Duk Won Karate-certified black belt instructors will give the free lesson.
Loose-fitting clothing is suggested since participants will have an opportunity to practice defensive exercises.
