MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Traffic Safety Program will hold a free car seat check Friday, Sept. 29, from 10:30-1:30 p.m., at the Massena Fire Dept., 34 Andrews St.

The seat check is part of a Child Passenger Safety Technician training. These courses prepare a cadre of experts who are dedicated to helping parents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible - every trip, every time.

Both the training and car seat check are also sponsored by NHTSA through funding from the New York Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

Those who wish to attend the seat check should bring their child in the current car seat, and if they have them, they should also bring both the car seat instruction booklet, and the vehicle owner’s manual.

In addition to the September event, there are local programs where parents can have seats checked by appointment.
