OGDENSBURG -- The Fort La Présentation Association annual dinner, the group’s major fundraising event, is Friday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Ogdensburg’s Freight House Restaurant.
The evening features a colonial buffet, silent auction of quality goods, raffles for specifically donated items and awards for those who have given exceptional support to the Fort Association.
Ogdensburg Mayor William D. Nelson and City Manager Arthur J. Sciorra will accept the Persis Yates Boyesen Award for the city’s outstanding contribution toward the historically accurate reconstruction and ongoing presence of Fort de la Présentation.
Apart from the silent auction, the premier raffle item is a double-signed, framed print by Robert Griffing, renowned for his scenes of the 18th-century frontier. “Fragile Trust” depicts a surprise encounter of the people of the forest coming upon visitors in their land.
The art was donated by Paramount Press.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
Other donated items include: a brain-tanned deer skin; a multi-colored Assumption Sash and a beautiful quilt. Tickets for these items are $2 each or three for $5. There are distinct tickets for each prize.
The dinner menu: roast beef and roast pork; tossed salad; roasted red rosemary potatoes; green beans with shallots, apples and onions; crusty rolls; apple crisp; and coffee or tea. Dinner tickets, $35 per person, are available from the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, the Freight House Restaurant and members of the Fort Association Board.
