Five $1,000 cash prizes to be awarded Feb. 22 at 8th annual 'Northern Pike Challenge' in Louisville

LOUISVILLE -- The St. Lawrence River Walleye Association will host the 8th annual “Northern Pike Challenge” on Feb. 22 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with five $1,000 cash door prizes.

$100 prizes will be given to the participants who catch the largest walleye and pike.

Free taxidermy will also be offered to the participant with the largest fish.

Participants can register now through Feb. 15 for $30 and Feb. 16-22 for $35. The fee for youth is $10.

Registration forms can be purchased at several locations including the American Legion, 40 East oRVIS St., Massena; Chapman’s Sports Shop, 2420 County Route 6, Black Lake; Green Machine Bait and Tackle, 126 St. Lawrence Ave., Waddington, Upstrom’s Bait and Tackle, 130 Rookey Rd., Waddington; and North Woods Outfitters, 1890 Morley-Potsdam Rd., Potsdam.

A mandatory check-in will be held at the Lousiville Fire Station, 14818 State Highway 37, at 3 a.m.

Fishing boundaries include the St. Lawrence River, Fobare’s Pond to the train trestle, Coles Creek Bay and Marina, Wilson Hill and Brandy Brook.

All fish must be released alive.

There will be a youth fishing division, raffles, door prizes, crazy hat competition, and food available.
