Fitness classes offered in Canton this fall

CANTON – Chiropractor Dr. Lisa Francey Towle has developed new fitness classes at the St. Lawrence University multi-purpose room.

Classes have begun with the following features:

• Tuesdays, 9:05-10:05, Step/Tone/Barre/Core, combining elements of step aerobics, Pilates, ballet, and weight training, to sculpt muscles and try to create a beautiful, lean body; fast-paced intervals of muscle-defining arm exercises, intense thigh and seat sequences, ab moves and fluid stretches.

• Thursdays, 9:05-10:05 Spin/PiYo/Sculpt, for anyone wanting to sweat while avoiding any jumping and jarring. The first 30 minutes are pedaling to inspirational music. PiYO moves are designed to combine the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. The speed will be cranked up during the 60-minute workout to deliver a fat-burning, low-impact workout.

• Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:15-10:45 Dynamic PiYo Stretch; holding some traditional yoga poses and adding movement. Dynamic stretches are stretches that incorporate momentum and motion to make full use of all muscle groups involved. It helps build muscle strength, loosens up the body and reduces stiffness.

Class fees are $5 per one-hour session and $3 per 30-minute session if paid in full before class begins. Drop in fee $8 per hour class, $5 for 30 minute class.

Class schedule runs through Oct. 11 with a make-up week to follow.

Register by calling Robin at 229-5415.
