CANTON -- “Sharing a Sense of Place: The New Tradition of Barn Quilting in St. Lawrence County" is an original 30-minute documentary produced for TAUNY by Emily R. Baker, a social documentation student at Clarkson University.
The film will be screened at TAUNY, 53 Main St., Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m., followed by a Q&A with the director and others involved with the project.
South Colton resident Ruth McWilliams will demonstrate barn quilt painting.
Residents of Canton, Colton and Hammond and towns in between are painting large quilt squares to display on their barns or houses, and inviting travelers to come and see.
"This is a great story of grassroots efforts to develop economic opportunities around heritage tourism," said TAUNY executive director Jill Breit.
The event is free and open to the public.
