POTSDAM -- The 8th Annual Festival of Sacred Music and Text will be held Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. at the SUNY Potsdam Student Union, multi-purpose room.

“We were looking for a public location for the festival and the campus seemed like the best place to bring the whole community together,” stated Rev. Ed Sachs.

The free festival brings together many faiths to share sacred music and readings with one another.

Musical participants this year include the Orthodox Community, The Voices of Victory Gospel Choir from SUNY Potsdam, Noteworthy Handbell Choir and choral groups from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, North Country Community Church, Latter-Day Saints and Temple Beth El. Readings will be presented by theIslamic community, The Christian Science Church, the Jewish community and the Orthodox community.

“We need a large auditorium with so many participants and guests, ” said Sachs.

Working with SUNY Potsdam’s Campus Minister, Dr. Harvey Smith, arrangements were made to co-sponsor the event providing not only a hall but participation from campus groups as well.

Donations to United Helpers new Maplewood facility will be accepted.

A reception will follow the concert.
