WADDINGTON -- Local resident Greg Mintz is hosting a family fishing day for special needs students and their families on May 17 at 92 McGinnis Rd. at 1 p.m.
Mintz is a school counselor and adventure therapist with St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.
Along with students and their families, Mintz will be hosting 80 others for the day.
Upwards of 15 volunteers will be on hand, some of whom are Mintz's former students.
Parents and students will participate in group activities that promote trust, cooperation, and problem solving. After lunch, students and parents will break into groups and go fishing.
The event ends with awards and prizes presented around the bonfire. Students will get to recap their day while toasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
Two St. Lawrence County businesses are co-sponsoring the event, Upstromm's Bait and Tackle of Waddington and Burger King of Potsdam.
