CANTON -- Fall Canton Recreation programs have kicked off with a session of Fitness Boot Camp in the Park. Other programs will begin in coming weeks.
Boot Camp began Tuesday, Sept. 12, but it’s not too late to join. Boot Camp takes place down by the picnic shelter at Bend in the River Park, 90 Lincoln St, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and will continue through October 19.
All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
Boot camp costs $35 or $5 for drop-ins, bring a towel or yoga mat and a water bottle.
Registration forms are available online at cantonnewyork.us/recreation and are also available at Boot Camp.
The Recreation Department is partnering with Canton Knights of Columbus to host the annual Soccer Challenge Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. on the Canton Central varsity soccer field.
The Soccer Challenge is for boys and girls age 9 to 14.

Tuesday night Adult Volleyball begins Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s School gym.
This year there will be two 8-week sessions of Adult Volleyball.
The fall session will run every Tuesday evening Oct. 3 through Nov. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
No volleyball experience is required.
The cost is $15 for the 8-week program.
Senior fitness classes with instructor Carrie Montgomery will also begin on Tuesday, Oct. 3 in the community room at the Canton Recreational Pavilion from 10-11 a.m.
Senior fitness classes this year will be offered in 7-week sessions.
The fall session will run Tuesdays and Thursdays Oct. 3 through Nov. 16.
The cost is $15 for the 7-week program.
Registration forms will be available online at cantonnewyork.us/recreation and will also be available at the class.
The ice rink will open Sunday, Oct. 1. A public skating schedule will be available soon.
The Recreation Department is still looking for skate guards, if interested, please pick up an application from the village cerk’s office or call recreation director, Caitlin Boreyko at 315-386-3992.
