POTSDAM -- The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam will feature the work of 12 faculty members from the art department from Feb. 9 to March 25 at the Gibson Gallery.

There will be an opening reception for the exhibition Thursday, Feb. 9, from 5-7 p.m., in the Gibson Gallery. The artwork will be on display through Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Admission to the museum is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The featured art faculty include: Iggy Beerbower, Laura Fair-Schulz, Joseph Hildreth, Mark Hu, Bethany Haeseler, Nate Infante, Danielle Johns, Marc Leuthold, Charllotte Qin, Doug Shatz, Amy Swartelé and Michael Yeomans.

The Art Museum's interns have been applying skills learned from their museum studies classes during the recent installation of the Faculty Art Exhibition, utilizing archival practices to properly handle and hang the artwork.

As part of the museum studies minor, students are required to participate in one on campus internship and one internship off campus.

In the past, students have gained real world experiences interning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum, The Smithsonian and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.

Locally they have interned with the Adirondack Museum, the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum and the Potsdam Museum.

The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam serves as the center for visual arts at the College, and encompasses all of the collections found throughout campus, including in the Gibson Gallery.
