POTSDAM -- Tonight’s performance of Eurydice has been cancelled.
"Our intentions are to open tomorrow night and move the play into the Performing Arts Center’s Blackbox Theater for the remainder of the performances," a release from SUNY Potsdam says.
"Eurydice" will be presented from Wednesday, Oct. 21 through Saturday, Oct. 24, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m., ending with a matinee performance on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
In "Eurydice," the Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl flexes her magical realism muscles, as she re-tells the classic myth of Orpheus from the point of view of Eurydice, his wife. The story focuses on Eurydice's choice to either return to Earth with Orpheus or to stay in the underworld with her father (a character created by the playwright). Ruhl has made several changes to the original myth's story line, to reflect a woman's perspectives and priorities.
Tickets are $15 for general admission; $10 for SUNY Potsdam faculty, staff, and students; and $8.00 for senior citizens and Youth 12 and under. To purchase tickets, contact the Community Performance Series Box Office at (315) 267-2277 or www.cpspotsdam.org, or visit the box office, located in the Performing Arts Center lobby.
