CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District will off the NYS DEC required four-hour erosion and sediment control training for contractors and developers.
It will be held from March 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, 2043B State Highway 68. Training will be presented by Steven Botsford, NYSDEC Division of Air Resources.
This training is required for all contractors working on projects that disturb more than 1 acre of soil and have a storm water permit from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
The permit will require that contractors moving dirt at those sites have at least one trained employee on site on a daily basis.
Training is good for three years.
Contractors and developers will have to register for training to receive credits.
The cost is $75 for certification, reference materials and refreshments.
Registration needs to be in by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4.
