BRUSHTON -- Alcoa employees and United Steelworkers union members will host their John “Benny” Rumble Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 26 at Highland Greens golf course.
The tournament, a four-person team best ball format, starts at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Cost is $35 for Highland Greens members and $55 for non-members.
If any participating golfer gets a hole in one on a designated hole, they will win a $10,000 prize. Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive in the men’s category, women’s category and senior category, and for a closest to the pin challenge for men and women. There will also be a Chinese auction featuring prizes donated by local businesses.
Rumble was an Alcoa employee who died in a tragic workplace accident on Jan. 21, 1983.
“Benny was extremely active in his community, and the Boy Scouts were a cause near and dear to his heart,” event chairman Jacque Leduc said. “In his honor and memory, Alcoa employees and United Steelworkers members hold this annual tournament to raise funds for local scouting troops.”
To register a team of four, Leduc at (518) 358-0031 or jacque.leduc@yahoo.com. Checks can be mailed to Jacque Leduc, 1083 State Route 95, Bombay, NY 12914.
