CANTON -- St. Lawrence University’s Department of Music will present "Wired 2.0" featuring Transient Canvas beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall.
The event is free and open to the public.
Hailed as “superb” by the Boston Globe and as “disarming” by Cleveland Classical, Transient Canvas is elevating the bass clarinet and marimba by commissioning new repertoire that challenges expectations.
As a duo, Amy Advocat on bass clarinet and Matt Sharrock on marimba have commissioned over 80 pieces by emerging and well-established composers from all over the world, and they continue to tour extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
They have released two albums on New Focus Recordings: Wired, “a must-ad to any new music lover’s library” according to I Care If You Listen, and Sift, which KLANG New Music called “one of the more refreshing things I’ve heard in recent years.”
"Wired 2.0" is an electro-acoustic show that highlights technology's ability to affect and encompass our social, political, and natural environments.
The flow of the concert emulates the experience of listening to a concept album and is performed without pause.
