CANTON – The Drive For 25 and Farm to School programs are hosting a farmer/producer meeting Jan. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension offices.
Schools in St. Lawrence and Jefferson County have funds set aside specifically for purchase of locally grown or processed goods. Farmers and producers who are interested in new or expanded sales to schools in the area should attend this meeting.
Topics covered include: how to set up contracts with schools and the informal bid process, what schools are looking for, CCE (SLC) commercial kitchens and a Farm-to-School grant, NNY HUB and its role in assisting growers, farmer success stories with a panel of farmers and food directors.
The program is presented by Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County.
Contact Farm-to-School Coordinator Renee Smith at (315) 869-1420 or resmith@hdcsk12.org for more information.
