MASSENA -- A dozen local bands are slated to play a jamboree for a local music producer and musician who suffers from lung cancer at the American Legion on Feb. 15 starting at 1 p.m.

Joe Phillips is battling stage four lung cancer. The disease has metastasized, and he has tumors in his lungs, brain and adrenal glands.

Bands on the bill include The Max Ryder Band, North Country, Atom Ghost, Kickin' Back, Juggernaut Agenda, The Drifters, Mary Ann Casale with Thomas Beckstead, Oshier Country, Angus Lamora, Paul Hubert, Divided Roads, Nelly Brown Buck, Backdraft and JR Murray and Friends.

Phillips runs Wildcat Records. In his younger years, he produced shock rocker GG Allin’s debut album.

There is also a crowd-funding campaign to raise money to help with Phillips’ medical expenses, and travel expenses for his wife, Nancy, who stopped working to be with him. That page is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1024533364229667/
