CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Society, 3 E. Main St., will host “Digging the War of 1812,” a talk with Timothy Abel, a SUNY Canton professor and archaeologist.
At the talk, which will be Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m., Abel will discuss how archaeology contributes to a more complete picture of the War of 1812.
He will specifically discuss recent archaeology of sites related to the war, including a naval shipyard, a fort, a battlefield and an encampment.
The talk is part of the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the war, which took place in part in St. Lawrence County.
