CANTON -- Dig Safely New York’s 2016 Excavator Safety Seminar tour will stop be at SUNY Canton’s Dana Hall from 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. March 15, to present safe excavation practices to professionals.
But reaching homeowners who will begin digging projects such as putting in a mailbox or planting shrubs is equally as important in order to prevent the costly repairs, serious injuries and tragic incidents that can occur when an underground gas, electric, communications, water or sewer line is struck.
This also serves as a timely reminder for Canton residents to always make a free call to Dig Safely New York at 811 before digging for landscaping and other projects this spring to avoid striking underground utilities.
