CANTON -- St. Lawrence Health System’s diabetes department will host an educational program titled “I is for Insulin” on March 21, 2016, at the Best Western, 90 East Main St.
The event is targeted to diabetics who are already taking insulin, or persons considering adding insulin to their diabetes management.
“Insulin is the mainstay of diabetes management for all Type 1 diabetics and many Type 2 diabetics. Insulin injections are one of the safest and most effective ways to control blood glucose and prevent complications,” said Endocrinologist Paul Tejera.
“With the advent of new pen administration devices and long-acting insulin, insulin therapy does not need to be cumbersome,” Diabetic Educator, Kathy Calcagno, RN, CDE said.
This program is supported in part by an educational grant from Novo-Nordisk.
Speakers will include Dr. Paul Tejera, Endocrinologist; Kathy Calcagno, RN, CDE, Diabetes Educator; and Regina Young, D.Pharm. This program, which includes dinner, is free of charge and open to those with diabetes and taking insulin or considering insulin therapy.
Reservations are required with Deborah Lauther at 261-5413, or dchaselauther@cphospital.org, by March 17.
