Death in St. Lawrence County Project to discuss plan for documenting, mapping poorhouse cemetery Thursday in Canton

CANTON -- Dr. Mindy Pitre, director of the Death in St. Lawrence County Project, will present the project's plan for documenting and mapping the cemetery at the St. Lawrence County Poorhouse.

The event is planned at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 East Main St., Thursday, May 18 at noon, as part of their monthly Brown Bag Lunch Series. Brown Bag Lunches are free and open to the public: bring your own lunch and enjoy a beverage and dessert provided by the SLCHA.

Dr. Pitre is an assistant professor of anthropology at St. Lawrence University. She earned her PhD at the University of Alberta and regularly teaches courses on Forensic Anthropology, the Human Skeleton, and Dealing with the Dead.
