POTSDAM -- Join the Nihanawate Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution on September 10 at 7 p.m. when a proclamation supporting Constitution Week will be signed by the Town of Potsdam at their board meeting, proclaiming September 17-23 as Constitution Week.
Constitution Week is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23. The celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside one week annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
September 17, 2014, marks the 227th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.
