CANTON – St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess Maureen Pierce of Heuvelton and her court will be the guest of honor at the at the annual Dairy Princess Festival and Parade sponsored by the Canton Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, June 2.

Big Wheels will roll from 6-8 p.m. with registration from 5:30-6 p.m. The event is open to 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old Big Wheel Racers, and costs a $1 to enter. Big Wheels will be provided, and trophies and prizes will be awarded to winning racers.

The annual John Deere Days Block Dance sponsored by LeBerge and Curtis will be the same evening from 7-9:30 p.m. featuring music by Classic Country. The members of Classic Country are Ron and Josh Kirkpatrick on vocals and lead guitar, Joe Briggs on drums, Don Woodcock on fiddle, Marilyn Bartlett on rhythm and vocals, and Carter Houk on bass and vocals.

There will be no car show this year, said Chamber Director Allison Bauer.

The Dairy Princess Parade steps off on Saturday at 1 p.m., but festivities start earlier in the park start at 10 a.m.

There will be a bounce house and slide, FFA chicken barbecue, ice cream, food, vendors, pluck a duck contest and grubtub, Bauer said.

Many local businesses and organizations will be set up with informational booths as well, and the Boy Scouts will stage their annual frog jumping contest during the day, Bauer said.

The chamber director said the parade route this year will be unaffected by the bridge construction project and will follow the same route as in years’ past: Riverside Drive, and then a left on Main Street up to the park.
