POTSDAM -- Community Performance Series will welcome the Boston Brass on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m., in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.
The audience will vote on program selections for the second half of the concert. Boston Brass is the 32nd annual McElheran Visiting Artist to perform at SUNY Potsdam through the series.
"Boston Brass is guaranteed to delight any audience with their boisterous and engaging concerts. They play the most-loved and recognizable musical selections, and provide captivating stories and insights behind each song. This performance will be great fun," said CPS Executive Director Amy Flack.
The quintet members will also lead open masterclasses for brass students at The Crane School of Music on Nov. 21, beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a special open masterclass with the student performers of the Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet at 12:30 p.m. For details visit www.cpspotsdam.org.
The Boston Brass performing ensemble consists of Jose Sibaja and Jeff Conner on trumpet, Domingo Pagliuca on trombone, Chris Castellanos on French horn and Sam Pilafian on tuba.
During intermission, Boston Brass will let the audience decide the second half of the program via balloting in the lobby. Each nominated category will include three musical selections to choose from. Patrons will also be encouraged to explain why they chose their selections in the ballot, and the most intriguing stories will be included in the second half music introductions by the Boston Brass!
Audience members will be able to vote for their favorite songs in categories such as movie soundtracks, Broadway moments, movie themes, Las Vegas-style crooner pieces, ballads and closing works.
Tickets can be purchased through the CPS Box Office, located in the lobby of SUNY Potsdam's new Performing Arts Center, by calling 267-2277, or by visiting www.cpspotsdam.org. Single tickets can be purchased in-person at Brick & Mortar Music in downtown Potsdam.
Ticket prices differ depending on the event and location. Discounts are also available for senior citizens, all students and SUNY Potsdam faculty/staff.
