CANTON -- Improving the efficiency of dairy herd reproduction is the topic for the next Northern New York Dairy Institute course that is scheduled for Nov. 12, Dec. 17 and Jan. 14.
"The goal of this Northern New York Dairy Institute course is to help participating farms to develop a plan specific to each individual operation," says co-organizer and Northern New York regional dairy specialist Kimberley Morrill.
The Northern New York Dairy Institute is a collaboration between the Cornell Cooperative Extensions of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties and the Quality Milk Production Services Lab in Canton, NY.
Speakers for the course include Tom Overton and Julio Giordano of Cornell University, Heather Dann of the W. H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute, David King with Holtz Nelson Dairy Consultants, veterinarian Jessica Smith with Quality Milk Production Services, veterinarian Rob Lynch with Zoetis, local dairy industry professionals and Cornell Cooperative Extension educators.
