County legislator calls town hall meeting in Norfolk to discuss CSX project

NORFOLK -- County Legislator Jason A. Clark says he will host a town hall meeting on June 26 to discuss issues related to railroad crossings in Norwood and Norfolk.

The meeting will be in the community room at Norfolk Fire Station #3 on state Route 420 at 7 p.m.

Clark says he hopes to :

• Provide an update on CSX track upgrade activity

• Solicit public concerns regarding ongoing track work

• Discuss railroad-related traffic safety matters

Late last year, Clark says he, Norfolk Town Supervisor Charlie Pernice and Norfolk Highway Superintendent Larry Villnave met with representatives from CSX Transportation.

The officials agreed that all of the deficient grade crossings along the CSX main line in Norwood and Norfolk would be replaced or repaired by the end of summer 2014 to a standard that was safe and easily passable, according to Clark.

CSX began that work in late May and there have been several concerns resulting from that work on county Route 38 (Plum Brook Road) in Norfolk, Bicknell Street in Norwood and Pine Street in Potsdam.
