CANTON — Enjoy fresh greens and handmade decorations when friends and neighbors gather at 3 East Main St. for the St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s annual Holiday Open House Dec. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Festive floral arrangements, refreshments, holiday music, and family history will fill the air at this holiday event which is open to all. The Canton Garden Club provides fresh greens, floral arrangements, and early American Christmas tree decorations like gingerbread, dried apples, and lace.

The Holiday Open House includes live seasonal music by a variety of local musical talent: the Canton Central School Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Kimberly Busch; R. Merrie Song & Friends, performing early American carols; local musician John Danis; and the ever-popular Noteworthy Handbell Choir.

This year, Adirondack Santa will be available upstairs in the Silas Wright House from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. waiting to hear children’s Christmas lists. There will also be crafts for young visitors to make and cookies for them to decorate.

New this year is a Holiday Gift Auction with many gift items up for bid throughout the evening.

The SLCHA Museum Store is full of local history books as well as old-fashioned toys and games for purchase.

Parking is available in back of the SLCHA, next to the museum’s main entrance.
