Cornell Cooperative Extension offering class for beginning farmers Friday in Canton

CANTON -- Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer a class for beginning farmers on Feb. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the CCE Learning Farm.

The class is for those who are just starting a farm or looking to change to a new product.

Topics include evaluating your resources, getting started, best management practices for vegetable production, livestock production and growing hay and pasture.

Speakers include Anita Deming, Amy Ivy, Diane Dumont, Betsy Hodge and Kitty O’Neill of Cornell Cooperative Extension, Sarah Johnston from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Jennifer Bosley from the USDA Farm Credit Service and Peter Hagar of the Clinton County Soil and Water Conservation Service.
