POTSDAM -- Clarkson University will kick off the start of the 2018-2019 academic year with its annual Convocation.
This year, three faculty members will deliver the Van Sickle Endowed Lecture at Convocation. The free event begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, in Cheel Arena and is open to the entire Clarkson community.
The speakers will be introduced by Michelle Crimi, professor, and director of engineering and management at Clarkson.
The speakers will consist of Stephanie Schuckers, Paynter-Krigman endowed professor in engineering science and director of the center for identification technology research (CITeR); Joe Skufca, professor and chair of mathematics; and Stephen Bird, associate professor of political science. The topics covered by the speakers will directly relate to Clarkson’s Common Book for 2018, “Pandora’s Lab: Seven Stories of Science Gone Wrong,” by Paul A. Offit.
