NORWOOD – A group of students will honor the memory former principal Joanne Bigwarfe with a musical performance.
The event will be held in the Norwood-Norfolk Auditorium Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. Performers will include Ben Foster, Morgan Sabre, Allexa Hooper, Troy O’Brien and Nick Rycroft, who recently held a similar event for the Garrett Phillips memorial fund that raised more than $2,000.
Bigwarfe was the principal of Norwood-Norfolk Central School before she passed away following a bout with cancer in 2012. She had previously taught at Potsdam and Parishville-Hopkinton and worked as a special education administrator at Norwood-Norfolk before becoming principal.
Admission will be $3 per person or $10 per family, with the proceeds to benefit the “Gift of Love” scholarship.
The first 100 attendees will receive glow wands.
Sttudents will entertain with songs and dances. Bigwarfe was active in the community as president of the K-Kids and the Potsdam Booster Club.
She was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Norwood.
She is survived by her husband, Brooks, and children Konnor and Kirstie of Potsdam. She was predeceased by her daughter, Taylor.
