MASSENA -- Comrades of Hope will hold a free naloxone training and their regular meeting in October.
Their naloxone training is free and open to the public on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Massena Community Center, 61 Beach St. All attendees will be trained in recognizing an overdose, how to administer naloxone and be given a free kit. No medical training is necessary. Naloxone is a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opiate or opioid overdose, such as heroin, fentanyl, morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone and hydromorphone. It is sometimes marketed under the name brand Narcan.
Their regular meeting will be Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the community center.
Comrades of Hope is a support group for those having loved ones, current or deceased, who suffer from the disease of addiction. All meeting are free and confidential.
