POTSDAM -- The Community Performance Series will continue Oct. 30 with the Idan Raichel Project at 7:30 p.m. in Maxcy Hall, SUNY Potsdam.
Idan Raichel, the creator and leader of the project, invited collaborations from artists of different generations and ethnicities, singing in languages as diverse as Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, and Swahili.
The project blends African, Latin American, Caribbean, and Middle Eastern sounds, coupled with a live show.
In 2006 the US-based record label Cumbancha released a compilation of the group’s first two albums worldwide.
The New York Times selected the album as one of the top world music releases of the year, and it received a nomination as one of the best world music albums of the year by the BBC Radio 3 Award for World Music.
Tickets will range from $15 to $25. For tickets contact the CPS box office at 267-2277 or visit cpspotsdam.org.
