POTSDAM -- The Community Performance Series will kick off the 24th season with the Jerusalem Quartet Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall, SUNY Potsdam.

Celebrating 20 years as a quartet, the group shares the works of classical masters.

The quartet will share Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quartet in B-Flat Major (KV589), Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 11 in F-Minor, Op. 122, and Antonin Dvorak's String Quartet in G-Major, Op. 106.

The quartet was recently nominated for the 2013 Artist of the Year Award by Gramophone and has received several prizes and awards for past albums.

The ensemble formed while its members were students at the Jerusalem Conservatory of Music and Dance.

The four members of the quartet are Alexander Pavlovsky, Sergei Bresler, Ori Kam and Kyril Zlotnikov. Kam joined the group in 2011 after the departure of founding violist Amihai Grosz.

Ticket prices range from $22 to $30 for adults, with discounts for students, seniors and SUNY Potsdam faculty/staff.

Tickets may be purchased at the CPS Box Office in Snell Music Theater or at Northern Music & Video. Tickets can also be purchased at 267-2277 or www.cpspotsdam.org.
