"Into the Woods" is a multiple Tony Award-winning musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. The story intertwines the plots of several Grimm Brothers fairy tales and follows them, to explore the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Rapunzel" and "Cinderella," as well as several other tales. The musical is tied together by an original story involving a childless baker and his wife, and their quest to begin a family, following their interaction with a witch, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey.

The production will be directed by 30-year industry veteran Catherine Doherty. She brings extensive experience in multiple venues of theatre, including Off-Broadway, regional and community works. Canton-based music teacher Sara Simon-Shult will return as the CPS Music Director for this year's production.

Tickets for this production will go on sale to Producer's Club members March 9 and for the general public June 1. For more information about the Producer's Club, call 267-2277 or visit www.cpspotsdam.org.
