CANTON -- The Community Conversation on Poverty group, started by the St. Lawrence County Community Development Porgram, will convene Friday, March 31, from noon-1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
This meeting will be BYOL (bring your own lunch).
Chris Rediehs, Social Services commissioner; Julie Vaisey, Colton/Parishville/Pierrepont Neighborhood Center director; and Steve Knight, United Helpers, will start the meeting discussing poverty in the county and the resources currently devoted to that challenge.
Then there will be discussion of how the group can help tackle these problems.
The Community Conversation on Poverty is a loosely organized group with the goal of being both a place to learn about the challenges of poverty in St. Lawrence County and a place to find ways to help whether by volunteering, by contributing new energy and ideas, by raising money, or whatever else it might be.
This is expected to be the first of many more meetings/brainstorming sessions.
All are welcome to attend whether you are new to the issue or already work for a poverty assistance organization.
To attend the meeting, RSVP Anna Sommer, Community Development Program Board member at povertyconversation@gmail.com.
