COLTON -- A wood-splitting workshop for women will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon near Colton. Volunteer workshop host Betsy Kepes splits and stacks wood to supply her wood-heated, solar-powered home in the hills of Pierrepont.
"Wood splitting doesn't require a masculine physique", Ms. Kepes said, "and it's a great way to get some exercise while putting away fuel for the winter." There is an attendance limit, so participants must register in advance for the exact address as well as what to wear and bring.
There is a $17 fee per person, $30 couples, $7 students; scholarship or reduced rate available.
To register, email LocalLivingVenture@gmail.com or call 347-4223 and note the attendee names, home and cell numbers and email contact information. Info: www.SustainableLivingProject.net.
