COLTON -- A four-event Snowshoe Race and Walk Series on the trails of Higley Flow State Park has set races on Sundays Dec. 10, Jan. 28, Feb. 11, and March 3.
Participants may enter one event or all four. If there is low or no snow, events will be trail run/walks.
The races are sponsored by the Town of Colton Recreation Department with support from the Friends of Higley Flow State Park.
There will be male and female divisions with over-40 and under-40 categories with the first-place winner in each receiving a plaque.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. on event day at the Park Lodge, with races starting at 11 a.m. Beverages and light snacks will be provided.
Cost to participate is $8 per event or $20 for the series.
Those completing three of the four events in the series will receive a commemorative tee shirt.
Non-competitive snowshoers are welcome to participate in a trail walk. The courses for the race and the walk will be separate for a better experience for each group. The courses are designed and officiated by veteran snowshoe racer and avid outdoorsman Wayne Ratowski.
Proceeds from the event benefit Colton youth recreation.
