PARISHVILLE -- Runners, crafters and children will come together on Saturday, June 7 to raise funds for the Colon Cancer Alliance as part of the first annual Colon Cancer Crush at the Parishville Fireman’s Hall.
The fundraiser is being held in honor of Iris N. Newtown who lost battle with colon cancer June 3, 2013.
Those who knew Iris remember her as a loving, creative, and courageous woman who touched many lives as an unwavering friend and supporter. It is hoped that the event will reflect her memory as well as raise funds for an organization that supports patients and families dealing with the disease.
The event will include a “Wilderness Scramble” Fun Run 5K and an on-road/off-road running event that will take place through the back roads and ATV trails. The race will begin at the Parishville Fireman's Hall on the Rutman Road, taking runners through parts of the Adirondack Park.
A craft and vendor show will take place at the fireman’s hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Booths will feature artists, artisans and crafters.
There will be a variety of children’s field events beginning at 10 a.m. designed for kids in grades K-5, including some fun with water.
Registration for the race or for a craft/vendor space are each $15.
Cost for the children’s events is $2 at the door. T-shirts commemorating the event will be sold for $10 each.
