POTSDAM – Local organizers are planning a Climate March at Ives Park Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m.
Participants are asked to meet near the bridge at the park at 1 p.m.
There will be artwork on display, a pinata, nature tattoos, costumes, music by Adirondack singer Celia Evans, singing, chanting, action tables and, of course, marching.
Those attending are invited to come with a representation of what they love in nature. Participants are invited to bring posters or wear costumes or outdoor gear. Children of all ages are welcome to bring stuffed animals or animal puppets or dress in an animal costume.
Organizers are hoping the event weaves a network of regional activism to work together on climate and ecological issues affecting the region.
This local march is connected to a similar event happening in Washington, D.C. on the same day, and is also linked to other marches happening across the region.
After the march, Evans will present a concert at Jernabi Coffee House at 4 p.m.
