STAR LAKE -- The Clifton/Fine Rifle and Pistol Club, Route 3, will host their summer silhouette league starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11.

The sport has an enthusiastic following, and the club has combined many of the divisions from the NRA rule book to allow more firearms to be used. Primarily rim-fired .22 caliber rifles and handguns are used, but the club will allow centerfire handguns, pistol caliber rifles, and some military and law enforcement pistol caliber rifles.

Nothing larger than .44 magnum rifles and pistols will be allowed as they damage the targets. But for the most part anything from “Grandpa’s” old .22 trap rifle to top of the line competition firearms will get you in the game.

The course of fire is 40 shots at steel animal-shaped targets at 40, 65, 75, and 100 yards. All shooting is from the standing position, unsupported.

There are covered points for shooting rain or shine.

Call Tim before 8 p.m. for more information, 315 276-5209, call for more on other rules you should be aware of.
