OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, 214 King St., will host diabetes self-management classes May 21, May 28 and June 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. in conference room C.
Topics will include an overview of diabetes and healthy coping, meal planning, medication, exercise, healthy habits, complications, monitoring and goal setting.
Speakers will include
Karen Cole, Danny Sekhon, Gerry Hourihan, Alison Felt and Michael Seidman.
The goal of self-management education is to give people with diabetes the knowledge, information, self-care practices, coping skills and positive attitude that promote effective care and improve health outcomes.
Medicare and most insurance programs will cover the cost of the program, but a doctor’s referral is required.
