OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is participating in a national initiative to raise awareness of colon cancer. All personnel will be encouraged to dress in blue on Friday, March 7 as part of the Colon Care Alliance’s National Dress in Blue Day.
“We want to make a difference in the lives of our employees, their families and their friends. Our Dress in Blue Day encourages employees to talk to loved ones about colon cancer and the importance of being screened. By creating more awareness around this disease, we will save lives,” community outreach coordinator Michele Catlin said.
In addition to the blue attire, there will be informational displays and awareness handouts. The Cornerstone Café will serve blue and colon friendly foods.
A statement from Claxton Hepburn says one in 20 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer at some point in their lives.
