POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will host classical guitarist Vladimir Gorbach for a guest artist series free concert Sunday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater. Gorbach recently won first prize in the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition.
Gorbach will perform works by Mauro Giuliani, Domenico Scarlatti, Vicente Ascencio, Dionisio Aguado, Astor Piazzolla and Miguel Llobet.
As a first place winner in more than ten of the most important international competitions, Gorbach’s most recent win at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America's International Concert Artist Competition has earned him a 50-city concert tour of the U.S., Mexico and Canada, with appearances in Brazil and China. Now a member of a prestigious group of prize laureates who include some of the most active concert artists and pedagogues in the field of classical guitar, his tour will also include a Carnegie Hall debut through the D'Addario Foundation in February 2013.
As a soloist, Gorbach has recorded a CD with Naxos, the world's largest classical label. He is also a member of Duo Cologne, along with Goran Krivokapic, the 2005 winner of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition.
