Classes and workshops for kids and teens at County Arts Council

POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council is offering children and teens the opportunity to explore comic book art, learn magic tricks and more.

All classes will be held in Clarkson University’s downtown Snell Hall. To register, call 265-6860 or visit slcartscouncil.org. The classes:

• Art History for Ages 12-17, with Danielle Johns, Wednesdays July 14 and 28, 3:30 – 5 p.m.; drawing and painting emphasized; $15 per class and $8 materials fee per class.

• Comics Club, Group 2, with Dave W. Ferry, Saturday, July 17, 10 a.m. to noon, for ages 12 and up; introduction to comic creation including sketching and forming characters, perspective drawing, sequential storytelling. $20; bring sketchbook, good eraser, pencils.

• Summer Arts Camp with Danielle Johns, Monday through Thursday, July 19 – 22, 1 – 4 p.m., for ages 12-16; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, assemblage. $115 for all four classes plus $20 materials fee.

• Magic Club for Ages 7-14 with Rich Tenace, Monday, July 19, 3:30 – 5 p,m.; students learn showmanship, acting, and magic as well as how to build their confidence; $15 plus $10 materials fee.

• Life Drawing for Ages 12-16 with Danielle Johns, Tuesday, July 27, 3:30 – 5 p.m.; introduction to drawing series including still life and live models with pencil, charcoal and ink; $15; bring large drawing pad, drawing pencils, kneaded eraser and pink eraser.
