POTSDAM – SLC Arts will offer a class on ice dyeing with Virginia Burnett on Wednesday, June 13, from 7-8 p.m.
The class will cost $27 or $25 for members.
Each student will dye one silk and one rayon scarf, exploring how these fabrics react differently to the dye chemistry, and the difference shiny woven versus matte knit fabrics make to the final results.
Scarves must be left overnight for the ice to melt, then picked up the next day to be washed.
When the process is complete, students will have finished dyeing a formal wear scarf and a more casual option with this technique.
